Beauty + Doggies: M•A•C Cosmetics Haute Dogs

Although felines hold a special place in my heart, I tend to love all things (beings) cute and furry. This, of course, includes dogs. So when I got a peek at the visuals for M•A•C’s new Haute Dogs collection a few weeks ago, I was stoked. And of course, the products are gorgeous, too.

I think it’s hilarious when dogs resemble their owner—or vice versa—and I can think of a few human-canine pairs in my life who would have been great choices to represent this collection. I’ll refrain from posting photos here, but you can peruse the gallery that M•A•C has put up at machautedogs.com for the occasion.

Given my natural penchant for feline behaviour, I decided to embrace my inner canine when trying out the samples I received from this collection: i.e., I tried colours and textures that were outside my usual comfort zone. And lo and behold, everything looked great, and made for a refreshing change.

On my face

M•A•C Cosmetics Sculpting Powder

I usually stick to translucent powder to set my concealer (which I apply multiple textures and layers of on any given day), but I decided to give the Sculpting Powder in Soft Focus a whirl. I really liked how it subtly brightened my entire look without adding the usual intense shimmer that comes with a highlighter.

Sculpting Powder, $26.

On my lips

M•A•C Cosmetics Mineralize Rich Lipstick

I knew I would love the Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Nose for Style, a deep wine hue that has “fall” written all over it. What I didn’t expect to feel so passionate about was Barking Gorgeous, a light peach colour that is all shine and warmth. It’s not that I have anything against light lipstick per se: it just usually doesn’t look very good on me. This is different, though, and it’s nice to know I have options other than light pink, dark pink and deep red. Both lipsticks were unbelievably creamy and moisturizing, and felt comfortable on my lips.

Mineralize Rich Lipstick, $27.

In case you were wondering, the collection also includes Nail Lacquers, lip pencils, brushes, Mineralize Glass, Mineralize Eye Shadow quartets and more, in warm, buttery hues that range from pretty nudes to deep berries. So pretty! The collection is already available online, and will be in store August 20.

To mark the occasion, the bonus photos for today are of doggies (instead of cats!). Enjoy! And don’t forget to take the quiz to uncover your inner dog personality. I got Chow Chow… which might actually be fitting since it’s a fluffy Asian breed. Hmmm.
