Good mascaras are easy to come by. But the same can’t necessarily be said for great ones. You know, the ones that make you go “wow” after just one stroke of the brush on your lashes. A couple weeks ago at the Armani Ecstasy Dinner 2.0 (a follow-up to last year’s event where Rouge Ecstasy was launched), the makeup artist took one look at my lashes, and said “I’m sure I could get you even more length with Black Ecstasy.” After a comment like that, how could I not want to try it?
So she applied it over what I already had on my lashes: my current favourite, Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara. And I actually saw a difference. Really.
One thing that actually surprised me: I loved the effect of the new mascara despite its bristles not being the rubber kind that I’ve been partial to over the past few years. In my experience, they’re the best for separating lashes and avoiding clumps. But Black Ecstasy does both those things despite its brush having traditional fibre bristles. So far, using this mascara has given my lashes a lot of length, and tonnes of definition.
The texture is not too liquid, and not too consistent, and feels lightweight, too. And although it’s available in four shades, I can’t really imagine myself in anything other than “Obsidian Black”. I’m sure the others are lovely, but the deep black hue is just too gorgeous to switch for another.
Along with the Rouge Ecstasy CC lipstick, the Rouge & Black Ecstasy collection now keeps eyes and lips at their chicest.
