Glow Makers: 3 Gorgeous Highlighters

I never really got into the contouring trend, but when strobing became the thing to do, I discovered the wonderful world of highlighters… and I’ve never looked back! I’ve tried many different ones, but here are the three I always come back to.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter

This gel highlighter is lightweight, and smells like coconut—what more could you ask for? A little goes a long way: you really only need a few drops to add some soft light to your face. I like to use a wet beauty blender to apply it to finish off my makeup look, but I know others like to add a drop to their foundation to brighten up their whole complexion. What I really enjoy about this product’s gel texture is that it doesn’t make your pores apparent like some powder formulas do. Its beautiful golden peach hue can be built up to the desired level of luminosity. For me, it was love at first highlight!

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter (Champagne Pop)

This was one of my very first highlighters, and it’s still my number one favourite! As a beauty writer, I get many, many product samples, and it’s very rare that I stick to one for as long as with this one. I apply it right above my blush with a fan brush, which helps to create a more natural-looking glow, and then I use my eyeshadow brush to add some to the inner corner of my eye and my cupid’s bow, which I find helps open up my gaze and makes my lips look plumper. I love how versatile this highlighter is, and the shade is very flattering. I’ve also been using it daily for almost a year, and the compact looks untouched! It’s a cult favourite, and I completely understand why.

ANNABELLE Perfect Cream Highlight (Light Champagne)

This is my on-the-go highlighter, which I keep in my purse because of its portable, stick form. It’s nice and creamy, and super easy to apply with your finger tips, which also makes it ideal for travel! Its hue is lighter than my other highlighters, so I find it stands out more on my skin, but can be blended easily. I find it’s also a great “first” highlighter if you just want to experiment, given its very affordable price.
