Welcome!
bijou magazine is a lifestyle blog that focuses on beauty, lifestyle, tech, and travel, sharing “gems” with its readers. It is written Mariève Inoue—a.k.a. Minoue—and therefore is also very likely to contain cat pics.
“Bijou” is French for jewel. This site isn’t about jewellery, though: it’s about gems—which can be products, places, websites, videos, or even experiences—that I thought were worth sharing with the world. Or rather with you, the reader.

I decided on the word “magazine” as a way of deterring the focus from me… although bijou is more of a blog in the sense that it’s written in the first person, and it’s about things that I’ve tried or experienced.
I’m interested in a lot of different topics, and hopefully they’ll appeal to you, too. Here’s a glimpse at what I’d like to write about on bijou:
- beauty gems: awesome beauty products, tips, and ideas.
- I ♥ cats: anything and everything related to my (and the internet’s!) favourite animal.
- on the web: websites, videos, concepts I thought were moving, compelling, or interesting.
- app love: apps that really make my life easier—and which others could potentially benefit from using, too.
- travel gems: beautiful locations, yummy eats, travel essentials, tips, inspiring photos, and
more. - fashion gems: style trends, great finds, perfect accessories, and fashion previews.
Note: you will likely find cat pics in posts that have nothing to do with cats. Consider this an added value if you’re a fan of felines. If not, hopefully you’ll find them aesthetically pleasing nonetheless!
bijou features posts in both English and French, but not every single post is in both languages. So if you’re bilingual (like me!), don’t forget to check out both sides of the site.
So… what happened to MINOUE magazine?
MINOUE magazine was my first blog where I wrote about similar topics as the ones featured on bijou magazine. However, its name was a play on my nickname and business name (MINOUE media offers copywriting and translation/adaptation services in both English and French), and I came to realize that the name was difficult to understand, especially for English speakers. With bijou, I really tried to define what I was going to write about, and how I was going to go about it; so after months of planning, MINOUE magazine finally blossomed into bijou magazine. Don’t worry, though: I still intend to post a lot of cat photos here, too. I hope you like it!
