Perfect Flush: 5 Great Blushes

Even when I’m not really wearing makeup, I’m usually wearing blush. It’s impressive how easily just a little bit of crimson or coral on your cheeks can light up your face! Here are some of my top picks.

LANO Rose Gold 101 Ointment
I received this just before the holidays and started using it immediately as I had recently finished my favourite cream blush. It’s not really a blush per se, but rather a tinted multipurpose ointment. I use it on both my cheeks and lips, for just a hint of colour and tons (!) of moisture. It goes on a little sticky, but I find it perfect for Montreal’s extreme winter weather.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Papa Don’t Peach Blush
This blush’s peachy hue is just right on my skin tone, and its pearly finish gives my face a nice, subtle glow. Bonus: it smells sweet and delicious, which makes it a joy to use. I’ve had it in my collection for a long time, but I still reach for it regularly.

Nudestix Nudies All Over Face Color (In The Nude)
This creamy blush gives a very natural finish, and includes a little built-in brush, which comes in handy for extra blending. I don’t use it very often because the formula blends out beautifully using my fingers, but I like knowing that it’s there in case I need it 😉

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush (Incandescent Electra)
I’ll admit I first was interested in this blush because of its beautiful marbled design. But the mix of blush and highlighter really is lovely once applied! The powder is super fine and easy to apply.

Pixi On-the-Glow Blush (Juicy)
This tinted moisture stick is the latest addition to my blush collection, and I’m in love with its dewy, moisturizing finish. It’s not quite as intensely hydrating as the LANO ointment, and therefore not as sticky. The colour payoff is just right, and the formula blends easily. Perfect for a natural, everyday glow!

Although I use both powder and cream blushes, I prefer cream formulas: they’re just so easy to apply and travel with. I do find, however, that cream formulas aren’t as easy to come by as traditional powder blushes.
