This summer, I’ve become obsessed with ice cream. So much so that I started looking for an easy way to make it at home. But I never expected it to be this easy… and healthy! So I just had to share.
It all started during my trip to Italy at the beginning of last summer: it was so hot, that I started eating gelato every day. (Check out my post about Fatamorgana Gelateria in Rome here.) When I came back to Montreal, I continued my habit: ever since, I’ve been regularly indulging in ice cream, soft ice cream, frozen yogurt bars and popsicles (my Instagram profile is a testament to it). It’s just so yummy! While looking for a healthy alternative, I found a recipe for homemade ice cream that uses just one ingredient. Yup, one. I must admit I was a little skeptical before trying it: but I did, and it’s delicious!
The magic ingredient: frozen bananas. As simple as it may seem, the result is creamy, smooth and oh so satisfying. Not to mention that it’s super healthy since it’s made with just fruit.
Here’s how to make it:
- Take the peel off two ripe bananas and slice them into rounds;
- Place them in a freezer-proof bag or container;
- Freeze the bananas for at least two hours;
- Put the slices into a food processor or chopper;
- Purée the frozen bananas;
- Serve and enjoy!
